How do you understand your pain Independent Medical Examination.

First, realize that lawyers understand the law. Physicians understand medicine and your in-between.

There are physicians who, over time, have an understanding on how to bridge the gap between medicine and the legal world. A physician who does this is your IME physician.

Pain is subjective. You are the only one who experiences it and can tell your story. This is true of all patients in pain. The work starts with detailed questionnaires and medical chart review.

The advantages of a good pain IME is the training a physician has and the details of your case. Is a pilot with a 1,000 flights better than the first flight? You land both times, but which is better? Experience is the key!

I review many cases, often complex. That gives the IME physician more experience than others. Ongoing education, reading books, and doing internet searches builds knowledge.

Don’t fear the legal side of your IME, but embrace the medical. Bringing your records, films, and completing the standardized forms adds to our knowledge about you. More is better!
